White Sox sign righty Bryse Wilson to one-year, $1.05M deal

The White Sox added a reasonably priced right-hander with experience to their unsettled starting rotation mix Wednesday, agreeing to terms on a one-year, $1.05-million contract with Bryse Wilson.

Wilson posted a 5-4 record and 4.04 ERA with 82 strikeouts over 104 2/3 innings and 34 appearances including nine starts for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2024.

The 6-2, 270-pound 26-year-old is 20-21 with a 4.61 ERA in 143 career appearances (52 starts) over seven seasons with Atlanta (2018-21), Pittsburgh (2021-22) and Milwaukee (2023-24).

The Sox’ rotation has no clear-cut Opening Day starter after Garrett Crochet was traded last week and multiple possibilities to assume roles, including Jonathan Cannon, Davis Martin, Sean Burke, Drew Thorpe, Jake Eder, Ty Bush and now Wilson. General manager Chris Getz, on a rebuilding mission, has said he would add a veteran or two to the rotation mix.

Catcher Chuckie Robinson was traded to the Angels for cash considerations to make room on the 40-man roster for Wilson. On Tuesday, catcher Matt Thaiss was acquired from the Cubs for cash considerations. Thaiss spent the 2024 season with the Angels.
