Man badly burned during Ashburn blaze

A man was critically injured in a fire early Friday in an Ashburn neighborhood home on the Southwest Side.

Around 2:45 a.m., firefighters and paramedics responded to the 8100 block of South Kilbourn Avenue for a fire, Chicago Fire Department officials said in a post on X, formally known as Twitter.

A man was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition with “serious” burns, fire officials said.

No smoke alarms were found in the home, the fire department said.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation but Chicago police said no foul play was suspected.
