A Chicago man was charged with a fatal shooting in Lincoln Park last week.
John Conway, 35, was charged with first degree murder after turning himself in shortly following the release of a community alert, according to Chicago police.
About 4 p.m. on Nov. 27, 34-year-old Alexander Nesteruk was “exhibiting erratic and dangerous behavior” in the 2400 block of North Clark Street when he instigated an argument with a group of people, one of whom pulled out a gun and fired shots, Chicago police and Ald. Timmy Knudsen (43rd) said.
Nesteruk was shot in his chest and taken in critical condition to Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Nesteruk, of Wheaton, was pronounced dead at 1:19 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Conway is expected to appear in court Friday.
