Caleb Williams’ former head coach says he plans to stay at USC.
Wednesday, he was asked what he fells teams that inquire about him coaching elsewhere.
“I tell them I’m a USC Trojan,” he told reporters. “I’m at the place I want to be.”
Riley responded after reports said UCF reached out to Riley about their head coaching vacancy.
Riley was probably a longshot to land an NFL head coaching job, be it with the Bears or elsewhere. His entire coaching career has been spent at the college level between Texas Tech, East Carolina, Oklahoma and USC. He hasn’t exactly dominated at USC, either, going 25-14 in three years. The Trojans went 6-6 this season after going 8-5 last year. Riley was 11-3 in 2022, the year Williams won the Heisman Trophy.
Williams was honored by his alma mater on Saturday when USC retired his jersey during the Notre Dame game.
