The Bears’ coordinators will explain what they plan to change when they meet the media Thursday afternoon.
Eric Washington has been the Bears’ defensive coordinator all season long but was promoted to play-caller on Friday when the team fired head coach Matt Eberflus. He last called plays for the Panthers in 2018.
“I have tremendous trust and faith in him,” Brown said Monday. “And I am not a micromanager. I obviously won’t be around to be involved with their game plan but I trust those guys 100 percent to do their jobs with excellence.”
Receivers coach Chris Beatty, who coached with interim head coach Thomas Brown at Wisconsin 10 years ago, was promoted to interim offensive coordinator. Brown will call the plays on game day, though, while Beatty will help run the meetings. Brown’s view on game day will be different; he’s used to calling plays for the coaching box but will move downstairs to face the 49ers.
